Let's start with the Basic Information
window.
- HP = your Hit Points, how much health
you have until you die and make many loud cursing noises.
- SP = your Skill Points, how much you
can use your skills. When it runs out, you make with the running away
from big monsters.
- Base Level is where your main
experience is. When you base level it allows you to use stat points and
up your stats.
- Job Level is where your skill
experience is. When you job level it allows you to use your skill points
and up your skills.
- Weight is how much you are/can carry.
If you are over 50% your HP/SP will not regenerate on its own and if you
are 90% or over you can not use any attacks or skills.
- Zeny is how much money you have.

- Status is the button that you click on
to go to your Stats window.
- STR is your Strength. Strength
increases maximum damage and is an essential stat for Swordsman, Thief,
Merchant and Acolyte. In addition, strength increases maximum weight
allowance for all classes.
- AGI is your Agility. Agility affects
the flee rate of all classes. Flee determines how often you dodge a
monster. If more than one monster attacks you, your flee rate goes down
considerably. However, agility is still a very powerful stat for certain
classes to invest in. Agility is the prime stat for a Thief.
- VIT is your Vitality. Vitality gives 1
bonus defense for each point put into it. In addition, vitality gives
bonus HP as well. This is affected by your class (ex: Swordsman will get
more HP per point of vitality than a Mage). Also, vitality increases HP
recovery rate. Also, each point of vitality increases HP recovery
through consumables by 1%(ex: 10 points of vitality equals 10% more
recovery through consumables). Vitality is a prime stat for Swordsman,
Merchant and Acolyte to invest in.
- INT is your Intelligence. Intelligence
is the prime stat of a Mage and Acolytes. It greatly increases their
attack damage when casting spells. Intelligence also increases Magic
Defense. Intelligence has also become more useful to Hunters. Some
Hunter skills are affected by Intelligence.
- DEX is your Dexterity. Dexterity
affects how often you hit your mark. More importantly, dexterity affects
minimum damage in all classes. Probably the most important aspect of
dexterity pertains to Archers. It increases their minimum and maximum
damage. Dexterity also affects the casting rate of Mages, Wizards,
Acolytes and Priests. Also, it's usefulness to Blacksmiths is greater.
Along with Luck, Dexterity affects how often Forging and other
Blacksmith skills are successful. Dex is also important for the Priest
spell Turn Undead.
- LUK is your Luck. Luck increases
CRITICAL rate to a certain extent. It has many uses including affecting
Flee when being attacked by multiple monsters at once. Also, it's
increased usefulness to Blacksmiths. Along with Dexterity, Luck affects
how often Forging and other Blacksmith skills are successful.

-
Your skill tree is where
all of the fun stuff of your class comes into play. You can only go up
to job level fifty, so you need to think carefully about what skills you
should up and what ones can wait.
-
If it is possible you
should always up your Passive skills first. These are the skills that
don't require you to do anything and generally benefit you greatly. In
my case, these would be Double Attack and Increase Dodge.
-
Anything else is an active
skill... meaning it requires you to get it to start it. In this picture,
those active skills are Steal and Hide.

-
The next important thing
is Hot Keys
-
Hot Keys are acquired by
pressing the F12 button; a small row of windows will open up. In these
you can drag and drop certain items/skills to use. The numbers for the
hot keys are from F1-F9.
-
You can press F12 three
times, each will bring up an individual bar in case you run out of room
or want more than one for several purposes (i.e. Dead Branching, MVPing,
etc)
-
In this case I have my
most used skills along with my healing potions. Get used to mashing
those buttons a lot.

-
The next thing you'll use
the most is your chat window. This allows you to converse with other
players in the game and it allows you to see important messages such as
what items you've picked up, GM messages, when your weight is 50% or
more or when you've had something affect you (either good or bad).
-
The text box in the left
is for when you wish to use private messages. You type the user's name
in there and then speak as normal in the text box. No one but the person
you're messaging will see it. You also can't use GM commands in private
speech mode (much to everyone's chagrin).
-
Item pick ups appear in
light blue, private messages appear in yellow, GM messages appear in
yellow, regular speech appears in white, party talk appears in
yellow/pink, guild speech appears in light green, status changes appear
in light blue.

-
The first button on the
right gives you the option of sending your messages to all (public),
sending your messages to just those in your party or sending messages
just to your Guildmates (assuming you have a guild).
-
Send to all (regular
speech) messages can only be seen by those in your immediate area.
-
Send to party messages can
be seen only by those in your party, but they can be seen on any map.
-
Send to Guildmates
messages can be seen only by those in your guild, but they can also be
seen on any map.
