This is a story I wrote on a whim. Ok, actually I had the idea floating in my head for a while when one of my teachers came to me and basically pleaded for a story for my school's literary magazine since all of the submissions so far, save one, were poems. I wrote this my junior year of high School. With many sci-fi/horror flicks with furries or weres as the antagonists, the human protagonists always come out on top. In fact, it seems as though the protagonists almost always come out on top no matter what the story is. So I felt like writing something where the protagonists don't win. I was in somewhat of a sadistic mood when I wrote this. Excavation is technically not a furry story, but it has a furry character in it...at the very end anyway. So I put it in the furry section. The story is kinda spooky if you think about the possibility of it. Some people have told me this would make a great opening chapter to a much longer story...of course, in their suggestions, at the end of the long story the humans would ultimately come out on top. I may follow their suggestions someday, but this will always remain one story where the humans get exactly what's coming to them. Oh yeah, and the actual story idea came from that text at the opening page of FN. I just put a little more of a violent twist on it. And just so you know, there is a bit of gore in this one. It's not too bad though.
