Punk by Lionus

Punk by Lionus (1999)

"Wadda you lookin' at?"

A long time ago, I came up with a remedy for the dreaded "Artist's Block". Draw what you personally do not like.

In this drawing, I've drawn someone who I wouldn't want to meet. He's a punk, a tough, a person who you try to avoid making contact with in passing. While I am not saying that he is not worthy of being drawn, I still say that I do not like him as a person. Yet Rembrandt and Carravaggio broke away from the "artistic establishments" of their day and painted homey down-to-earth figures and in doing so expanded the limits of artistic expression.

Whoa! I did not mean to get so professor-ish on you there, but sometimes drawing what one does not like expands not only one's artistic horizons it also exapnds one's psychological limits as well.

Heh, I do like the brick wall behind him though. :D
