A
wonderful description that Nemmy wrote
A new day has just begun and you prepare
yourself to
continue along your journey across the seeming endless span of the
plains. It wasn’t all just grass, though. Spread
out
sporadically were trees here and there, their branches covered with
leaves
which have just grown to meet the latest coming of the spring
season. The gentle rustling of a river which you spent the
night
sleeping next to makes itself heard once again, the sound almost
forgotten to
you as it remained the same, soothing tone all throughout the
night. You hear some splashing sounds suddenly and you
glance out
across the river, watching as the fish go about feeding themselves,
breaking
the surface of the water in the blink of the eye to capture the hapless
insects
hovering above.
Just as you’re about to continue along your way, the morning sun above
you gets
blocked out all of a sudden by a creature flying over
head. Glancing
upwards, you can hardly believe what it is your trusted eyes are
showing
you. A dragon had flown overhead and was continuing along
its way
without notice the sudden awe it had stirred up within
you. You
follow its path intently with your eyes, watching as the dragon alights
itself
on one of the branches of a tree barely half a mile away.
Curiosity
gets the better of you and you can’t resist trying to get a closer look
at the
beautiful, legendary creature.
As you slowly approach the tree upon which the dragon appears to be
napping,
your intuition tells you that this dragon is a female. She
appears
to be the species of dragon most commonly referred to in legends and
stories, a
quadruped with a pair of wings, the wing-arms joined at her body above
her
forelegs. Her tail has drooped down into the branches of the
tree,
adorned with a most unique tail spade. Your eyes travel back
up
towards her body as you walk a bit closer, trying to be as quiet as
possible so
as not to disturb the dragoness from her nap. At first you
thought
that she was white in color. But now, as you step closer,
you can
see that her scales were actually tinted a purplish-grey color, her
chest,
belly, and underside of her tail being a bit lighter than the rest of
her
body. The only exception to that seemed to be the dragoness’
paws,
all four of which were totally black with matching black
claws.
Each of her paws also consisted of three toes. Gazing back
down at
her tail, you notice that it would be about the length of her body had
it not
been for the tail spade. With that flowing adornment, the
dragoness’
tail became almost double the length of her body. It began
as any
other tail spade would but instead of ending in a point, it separated
into two
long appendages, almost looking like her one tail became two at where
the tail
spade was attached.
Taking slow, deliberate steps, you are now very close to the stunning
creature. You admire her well built body, watching as her
chest
swells with each breath she takes in her sleep. Never before
have
you seen something so beautiful. The sun’s rays were
gleaming off
her scales in such a spectacular display, making the dragoness appear
almost as
bright as the sun itself. You take another step closer, your
foot
unknowingly coming down on a stick which had fallen off the
tree. You wince as a loud snap gives your position away and
the
dragoness awakes with a startled meep. She hops up and
stands in a
crouched position, staring down at you with her warm, golden colored
eyes, the
pupils of which were slit and black.
Tilting her head left and right at you, she continues to appraise you,
still
deciding whether to fly off to another destination or
not. You
remain as still as possible, hoping not to scare her off so
soon. But in this current position, you now get a good view
of her
muzzle. The tip of her snout, like her chest, was a lighter
purple
than the top of her nose and her cheeks and was flat rather than
pointed. Behind each of her eyes was a horn, white in color,
but the
same color as the underbelly, curving downwards at first and then back
up in a
rather lazy wave, just slightly longer in length than her
snout. She
turns her head further to the side and you can see that beneath the
horn, the
dragoness has an ear fin, looking almost like a mini pair of wings on
the back
of her head.
Suddenly the dragoness yawns widely, showing off all of her sharp fangs
to
you. You can tell that all she wants to right now is
continue taking
a nap. She bows her head quickly to you as if saying goodbye
to her
admirer. The dragoness walks over to the end of the branch
and then
spreads her wings out wide, the wingspan easily longer than that of the
length
of her body from nose to tailtip, giving you one last view to marvel
over. Her wings were the same shade of purple as that of her
back,
each with three wing-fingers with another bone extending from the elbow
of her
wing arm to help support the fragile membranes. The most
noticeable
part of her wings, though, was the random splotches of greyish darker
purple
which appeared on the ends of her wing membranes.
With a gentle rumble vibrating in her chest, the dragon leapt up into
the air
while beating her beautiful wings downwards, launching herself
effortlessly
into the sky. She flew up higher and higher until it seemed
that she
caught a gust of wind. The dragoness then just kept her
wings spread
out as she glided lazily upon it, letting herself get led towards the
opposite
end of the plains where she would find a new tree to nap
on. You
watch as she goes, still frozen in place from awe…
