Part 8 Life and Discovery

Interesting to say the least.

Not only I had found out I was a so-called Moon Dancer, I was now soul bonded to a black fox named Rathan. My mind just whirled about as I tried to make heads or tails (sorry bad pun) of all of this.

Rathan sat across from me at my camp and munched on the food I had prepared. I had tried to cook a decent meal but I ended up making a mess out of things. The emotions we passed back and forth between us had me so confused. I didn’t know where mine ended and his began. It made it difficult for me to concentrate on what I was doing. I finally gave up and let Rathan help. Come to find out, he was just as distracted as I was.

I know he was confused by my emotions of fear, curiosity, and a little sexuality. His scent was driving me bonkers. This was the first time I had really spent any time alone with a male of my own species. I tried to remember when I was due to come into heat again and gave up. I just couldn’t think straight.

The emotions I got from him were curiosity, concern, and also a heightened sexuality. Come to find out, my scent was having a similar effect on him. The more I tried to resist the more I was drawn to the dark fox.

We chatted for a while and exchanged more information about ourselves. I found out where he lived and was suprised to find he lived just over 10 kilometers from Aldrea and me. His office was even in the same campus as I attended.

“Did you know that there will be another moon rise tonight?” He said out of the blue. “Not a true full moon but still enough to for us to react.”

It was now my turn to stare at him with my mouth open. “You mean we’ll end up in the glade again dancing!” I managed to choke out. Fear again sprang up in my heart. Rathan moved over to sit beside me as he felt my fear.

“Its going to be ok,” he said placing an arm on my shoulder and giving me a hug. “It won’t be as strong as last night and you should be able to have more control.”

When he placed his arm round me and gave me a hug I nearly melted. A small part of my mind was still male and gave a twitch, but the rest of my body was female and responded to his touch. My head tilted back and as his looked down into my eyes. My heart gave a lurch as I was again lost in his eyes and the mental link acted as a feedback circuit between us.

He leaned down and kissed my on the lips. Well I’ve kissed a few girls while at college and Aldrea and I have done it too, but this kiss sent my senses reeling. It just happened and it felt so right.

“Wow.” Was all I could say when we broke apart breathing heavily.

“It’s the link.” Rathan said looking a little embarrassed. “It enhances any emotion I guess. I’m sorry.”

“I would have hoped we could have had more time to get to know each other before this had happened.” He replied. “I’d better warn you that if we dance together tonight, well, I think we’ll end up a little more intimate than last night. It’s this d^mn link.”

“What’s gonna happen when the moons rise tonight?” I asked with growing alarm.

“Well.” He looked sheepish, which for a fox is hard to do. A wolf could maybe pull it off but not a fox. “From what I’ve learned, we’ll probably dance till the moons peak. Once they peak, if the dancers are life bonded or mated, the dance becomes more seductive. The dancers become oblivious to any thing round them. It draws on the dancers into a courtship dance of sorts. The pair usually end up mating.”

“I have no idea how a soul bonded pair will react. I’ve never heard of a soul bonded Moon Dancer in decades.” He again looked down. I could almost see his ears turn red and I felt his embarrassment through the link.

I drew in a heavy sigh. “Well I looks like we’re gonna find out tonight. I can’t say I’m not curious to see what happens. I find myself very attracted to you. It may be the link or not. I haven’t, as far as I can remember, ever had sex before with a male. My memory only goes back to the hospital.”

He caught the small lie but didn’t say anything.

I stood and reached out to stroke his chin as he looked up at me. I forced my fear down and smiled. As I touched his chin the link snapped wide open. I felt what could be described as love flowing through the link between us. I tried to calm my fears and send him what I felt.

I was still wearing the flannel shirt from this morning but had unbuttoned the bottom few buttons and had tied the ends under my tits so my belly was bear. Rathan knelt and hugged me about the hips and rear and pressed his face and muzzle into my belly fur.

I felt his breath on my belly and reached round to hold his head against me. I must say I was getting very turned on by now and I’m sure Rathan could scent my arousal. I’m sure we would have found out how the night would have progressed if not for the world come crashing in on us.

Literally.

As we held each other, we both jumped as a crash resounded about us. Rathan still on his knees tackled me. I landed flat on my back as Rathan jumped on top to protect me.

“We’ve got to stop meeting like this. I didn’t expect the ground to shake till we were doing something.” I whispered into his ear and gave it a playful nibble. “What was that?” I said louder struggling to get up and look about.

“I have no idea. It sounded like a crash of some kind.” He said as he helped me up. “Hold that thought about earth moving till later. We’d better see what that was.”

My tail and fur were full of dirt, twigs and leaves. I tried fluffing some of it out as we raced toward the sight of the crash that we could see just down the trail.

It was a single engine lifter used by many of the people to go on excursions when they were too lazy to hike. It looked as if it had tried to make it to the glade to. It had clipped a tree and plowed into the ground less than a 100 meters form the glade and my camp.

Fortunately there was no fire. I still haven’t figured out how most of the vehicles of this world were powered. They used some sort of power storage device that could hold great quantities of power yet take up very little space.

I had promised myself I’d look it up once I had some time. Studies and living had taken up most of my free time.

We reached the crash just as we saw the pilot crawl from the wreck. I skidded to a stop as I saw who it was. From the wreckage struggled one of the avian members of this planet. From the colors of the feathers I figured it was a golden eagle.

Rathan rushed forward and helped the eagle the final few meters. He laid the eagle on the ground and knelt beside it as it passed out. I watched as he started examining the eagle for injuries. That’s when I heard a call coming from the wreck.

“There’s someone else in the wreck!” I shouted to Rathan and ran to the lifter.

I reached the side of the lifter and looked inside through the door half-ajar. What I saw almost made me loose my supper. Inside was another eagle. It was lying across the seat covered in blood that was flowing from its wing and other cuts and abrasions.

I grabbed the door and pulled. It gave some then stopped. I pulled harder and fell back as the door came off in my hands. I again landed on my tail and winced as I had in the glade. I felt Rathan answering wince from the link.

I was going to have to watch that. Having a tail was fairly new to me and I still had problems now and then with doors and such. I did enjoy it though. I could spend hours brushing and stroking it.

After scrambling up, I entered the wreck. I wiggled my way deeper into the twisted lifter. I managed to grab the eagle and start pulling it out. That was when I noticed the eagle had tits. When did avians have tits? The only way I could tell they were there was that the blood had matted down the feathers on her chest and they showed.

I felt the pain of regret, helplessness, and frustration from Rathan as I got closer to the eagle.

I quickly examined her and tried to stop some of the blood flow. Red stained my white fur. Rathan stuck his head into the lifter and asked me how I was doing.

I looked over my shoulder and said. “I need some compresses and bandages in order to stop the bleeding. She’s pretty bad off.”

“Be right back I have some in my pack. The other one is dead. He just died in my hands.” Rathan said in a strained voice. “He must have had some bad internal injuries. I couldn’t help him at all.”

“Come on sister stay with me.” I mumbled as I worked. “Don’t die on me!” I managed to slow and stop the major bleeder in her wing/arm. I had to tare a wad of flannel from my shirt as I worked and use that.

Rathan came back and reached in to hand me the bandages. With the bandages I was able to stop the major bleeding and keep pressure on the wound. I checked her for any other wounds and found no major ones.

“What’ll we do now we can’t leave her in here. She’ll die for sure! Help me get her out.” I called to Rathan outside the lifter. After a tight squeeze and much cursing Rathan joined me in the lifter.

As gently as possible we moved the injured eagle through the lifter and out onto the ground. We checked her vital signs and breathing. It was then that I noticed a jade pendant on the eagle’s neck. Looking closer I saw it was also in the shape of a crescent moon.

“Look, Rathan, she’s wearing a crescent moon too!” I pointed a blood-covered finger at the pendant on her neck. Rathan looked lower and gasped.

“Swiftwing Goldfeather!” Rathan exclaimed. “She’s one of the Seers. She’s just taken her vows as a seer. Why is she out here in the middle of no where?”

We were able to move her over to my camp after we checked her out and found no other injuries. We’d be able to take care of her better there than here in the trees and wreakage.

“I’ll watch her for a while, why don’t you go to the stream and wash up some.” Rathan said giving me a hug. “You’re covered in blood. I don’t think there’s anything we can do for the moment. I called for a medic transport and the paramedics but there’s another emergency right now taking up all the paramedic teams. They can’t get here to late tonight.”

I looked down to see my arms, belly, and paws red with blood and almost gagged. Rathan felt the nausea through the link and steadied me again sending me calming emotions.

“Get going before you do loose your supper.” He said grinning. He patted my rear as he sent me off to camp. I yiped at the pat and sent him a curse under my breath.

I staggered over to the stream. I sat on a rock and stripped dropping my blood spattered clothes in a pile and stood there with nothing on but the pendant around my neck. The pool looked co clear I could see the bottom three meters down. I held my breath and jumped into the pool.

The air shot from my lungs as I had forgotten how cold the water was. I broke the surface with teeth chattering. I felt Rathan’s returning wince from my dive. I slowly got use to the water as I washed the blood from my fur. I finally climbed out my fur matted down with water.

My nipples were hard from the cold water and poked through my fur. My ears turned red, as I stood and Rathan stepped up to wrap a towel around me.

“Hum. You look a little wet there lady.” He smiled as he said. He began rubbing the towel through my wet fur. The feel of his paws through the towel again sent my heart racing.

Neither of us had noticed the length of the shadows the trees were making. It was getting late and we had completely forgotten what would happen tonight.
