--------------------------a few weeks later-------------------------------
There was another full moon this night but cloudy. The weather had been windy and overcast. A storm had just blown through from the Atarrad Ocean. It was a day you just wanted to stay home and out of the rain.
Aldrea was on the night shift again. She had tried to convince herself that she had not masturbated in the vixen’s room and the vixen’s scent had not affected heart all.
What was even stranger was that she had spent that weekend in an almost frantic state of sexual arousal. She spent most of the weekend masturbating again and again. It seemed no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make her body relax.
About half way through her shift, Aldrea walked into room 203 and looked over to the vixen. There was something different about the comatose fox. She usually checked on her patients several times during her shift. One of the fox’s arms was now laid over her belly. It had been lying down by her side when she had checked her earlier.
“Could it be?” Aldrea thought to herself. She walked over and checked the vixen vital signs again. On a hunch, she checked for some reflex responses.
Aldrea gently too the vixen’s paw in her hand and turned it palm up. She looked down onto the paw’s palm pads and examined the black pads. Taking a writing pen from her pocket, she presses the tip into the center of the paw.
A low moan escaped the fox’s lips when she poked the vixen’s paw pad. She even felt a shallow tug as if the fox was trying to pull away from the pain.
Aldrea quickly checked for the response again and was rewarded by another low moan and gentle tug. After gently placing the paw back across the vixen’s belly. She ran from the room and called for the attending doctor.
The Doctor Conrad, a rather handsome looking coyote was in his mid 40’s. He had been on the nursing homes staff for almost 10 years. Usually he spent his graveyard shifts catching up on his medical journals, when Aldrea came running into his office.
“Dr. Conrad! Come quick the vixen in room 203 is starting to wake up.” Aldrea shouted in an excited voice.
Dr. Conrad looked up over his glasses and starred at pretty bobcat nurse, his mouth open.
He jumped up from his cluttered desk and ran in after the nurse toward the room. He and Aldrea raced each other into the room. Dr. Conrad picked her arms up as Aldrea drew down the covers.
The doctor looked down at the patient with her hospital gown draped over her body. He sighed as he remembered her beauty. He had thought it such a waste that a beautiful arctic fox should be in this condition.
He and Aldrea checked the vixen’s reflexes and responses again. Again the vixen responded with a moan and a tug. With the nurse’s help, he removed the feeding tub from her nose. As they worked, the fox moaned and tossed and turned as if trying to wake.
With a start, the fox opened her deep green eyes, an unusual color for a fox. Her eyes scanned the room. As her head leaned to the side, her eyes fixed unfocused on the doctor in a frightened stare.
Dark shapes moved about me in the room. My head and whole body felt stiff. I couldn’t even move my hands. I was so weak.
Imagine my surprise when my eyes finally focused as the doctor shown a light in my eyes.
As the doctor leaned over and shown a light in the fox’s eyes, the coyote’s face came into focus. Startled, the fox eyes flew open wider. Her breath came in ragged gasp as she fought to make sense of what she saw. “Y..yo..you....your a coyote!!” Came the raspy voice, horse from disuse and the feeding tube.
It took a while before I could think straight. I must have brain damage, I thought. Maybe they used some new type of drugs on me and I was hallucinating.
I woke and found myself lying in what seemed to be some sort of hospital bed. My eyes struggled to focus as I looked around the room. It looked like an ordinary hospital room except for the anthropomorphic coyote and what I recognized as a bobcat in a nurse’s uniform.
“Wow, I must be dreaming.” I said to myself. “A furry’s dream come true.” I shook my head as I tried to clear the hallucinations. That was when I noticed that my head felt different. My sense of balance in my head seemed to be different and I seemed to have something on my face. It blocked a small portion of my view right over where my nose and mouth should be. Some sort of oxygen mask with a black end and no hoses. I tried to move my arms and legs but couldn’t. They felt as if they were made of lead and did not respond to my will.
I managed to turn my head toward what obviously was a doctor in a lab coat. “What??? Where???” was all I managed to choke out. The doctor looked concerned and spoke. “You are in a nursing home, miss.”
Miss? Was the doctor nuts too? The last time I had looked I was male and the date with Milissa Kensington would have had a different outcome than spending it in bed for 3 hours. That was when I recalled the lab and the expanding distortion field.
“The lab...accident.” I manager to croak out again and cough. The cough took all my energy and I almost passed out. It left me gasping for breath.
The nurse spoke this time from the other side of the bed. “The lab doesn’t know how you got into their experiment, you nearly didn’t survive the accident.” “What’s your name dear? There must be someone worried about you.”
“J...John....Johnathan Davis.” I managed to crock. My voice seemed to be improving but it still sounded strange to me. Maybe something happened to my neck when the distortion field hit me. A strange expression passed over the faces of the nurse and the doctor and they looked at each other.
“Enough questions for now. You need to regain your strength. I suggest you lay there and relax. I’ll be back in a little while to check on you.” Said the coyote doctor as he motioned to the nurse to follow him.
Out in the hall, the doctor turned and looked at Aldrea. “We had better keep a close watch on her. That was a male’s name she gave us. It may be a boy friend or someone close to her and the accident has probably jumbled her memory. We had better give that name to the Public Safety Force and see if they can trace it. I am going to call in a psychologist and see if he can help her. I want you to stay with her and keep her calm. I will prescribe a sedative for her if she gets too upset, but I do not want to give it to her if you can help it. She has been in a coma for several months.”
“Yes, Doctor Conrad.” Aldrea said as she turned to return to the room.
When the bobcat came back into the room I had to ask her. “Was I injured badly in the accident? Please tell me.” Again it was all I could do to ask those simple questions.
“You’ve been in a coma for over two months. About ten weeks since you were found in the lab.” Aldrea replied. “We couldn’t find any major injuries on you other than a couple of bruises.”
“I feel so strange so thirsty. Can I have some water?” I asked my voice still rough.
“Oh yes, I’m so sorry I didn’t think of that sooner. By the way my name is Aldrea, I’m your nurse this shift.” The bobcat smiled back at me.
My eyes tracked the nurse as she walked over to the sink and filled a cup with water. She searched the cupboard and found a straw to put in the gloss. That was when I noticed the short black tipped tail that poked itself out of the back of her slacks.
I had had a thing for tails in my furry days. I had many fond memories and had floofed many a fem’s tail on-line. “This was some dream.” I thought to myself. “I hope I don’t wake up too soon though.” I would later regret those thoughts as I finally realized I was not dreaming.
The bobcat turned and brought me my water. I managed to bring my hand up into my view. My hand and arm did not look like anything I remembered. Instead of smooth flesh there was a white furred hand, smaller than what I remembered. I rotated my hand and looked at the palm. It was covered with fur too, but with what looked like black pads on the fingers and various parts of my palms. Fear contorted my face as I reached up to feel my face. What I thought was an oxygen mask was in fact a muzzle. As I continued to explore my features I found more fur and lots of it. My ears were almost on the top of my head rather than on the sides.
My heart took off racing along with my mind. All I could was look ant my hands and arms.
It was then that one of the remarks made by the doctor popped into my mind. “You are in a nursing home, miss.” MISS! Both hands dropped to my chest. Even though I spent lots of time on the computer and watching the professor’s latest work I had managed to keep myself in somewhat good shape.
Instead of a flat muscular chest I once had. My hands/paws met two mounds of flesh under the sheet.
The nurse turned and walked over towards the bed with my water by the time my hands err “paws” had made their discovery. With stoic resolve, I reached one paw down to my crotch and presses down. That was the discovery that sent my already over taxed mind over the edge. A moan escaped my lips as I passed out again.
Aldrea watched the fox’s paw finish feeling around her face. She was concerned at the startled look on the fox’s face. She watched as the fox reached and place her paws on her breast and then reach down and press her crotch.
The look of utter fright and moan brought the nurse to the bedside fast, the glass of water in her paw forgotten. Aldrea was just in time to watch the fox’s green eyes roll back as she moaned and went unconscious.
Aldrea called the doctor immediately.
Dr. Conrad had just finished talking to the staff psychologist when the call came in from the excited Aldrea. He immediately rushed to the patient’s room. It took them only a few moments and an ammonia capsule to bring the fox around again.
Consciousness returned with the pungent smell of ammonia. I woke with a start and went rigid in fright.
What had happened to me when the distortion field had hit me? Why were the doctor and nurse furries. How come my body was now female? These and many other questions raced through my mind as my brain started working again.
I reached under the sheet. Everywhere I felt was fur and a hospital gown of some sort. I managed to draw the sheet away and look down. Instead of the body I was use to seeing, there was a slender furred body.
I reached down and rubbed my paws down over the body and felt the pressure on my fur. This was my body! My heart and breathing raced as I pondered this revelation.
I looked down again and watched my breast rise and fall as I breathed. This was so unreal. It was going to take some getting use to.
Something twitched low between my furry legs, another appendage. It was the same white as my arms and paws, bushy, but with a black tip. A tail, I have a tail the thought struck me funny. I started to laugh with an almost hysterical note in it before I could bring it under control.
The doctor and nurse looked at their giggling patient wondering if she had lost her mind.
