RED ALERT

In view of Yahoo's shockingly tacky, inept, and arrogant integration with Webring, the MacFurry Web Ring is forthwith being removed from that service. I am now moving it to Ringsurf, another provider almost identical in function to the old Webring. If you have been in the ring, or if you wish to join, you must (re)enter your page at the new join form here. The new HTML fragment will be automatically emailed to you; your site ID# and email will automatically be included in the new code and you will NOT have to manually add any info once you receive the new code. The old web ring is still functioning at the Yahoo site, but I intend to delete it once I have all the members moved on to the new system. I really am sorry about all this and all the bother it causes for you, for me, and for everyone else who uses webrings. I hope Yahoo's stocks drop.

I used to like Yahoo. They, along with AOL, were my first gateway to the web. Two of my early (no longer available) sites were listed there. But just because they have been around a while, or because they are a popular site, does not mean that we have to go along with everything they do. Listen, Yahoo: you do not own the Internet, and you do not own us. We think different(ly) around here.

As for the MacFurry Web Ring home page, it's staying right here on Furnation, along with the rest of MacFurry Central. After next week it will no longer be mirrored at Xoom: another service I am leaving for good. It will resume its normal format and function next week. One more thing: the new contact e-mail address for MacFurry is macfurry@iloveapple.com. Please address any questions or comments to that address. Oh, and KEEP THE DEJA ARCHIVE ALIVE!!!!
