Important Announcement! There's good news and there's bad news. The good news is, your fearless author has graduated! Yes, I am now officially degreed, with all the rights, privileges, salaries and job searches thereby conferred. If anyone out there has an opening for an entry-level programmer, please drop me a line!
And now, the bad news. Since The Ivory Tower was developed for the
student paper of the University of Texas, and I'm no longer a student ...
The Ivory Tower has now officially come to an end. I've had a lot
of fun doing the strip. It kept me sane during a very turbulent semester.
Thanks to everyone out there who supported me during its run.
If tIT taught me one thing, it was that I am capable of producing a
quality comic strip, and that I enjoy doing it! With that in mind, rest
assured that you haven't seen the last of this fiesty cartoonist. When, where
and in what form, I can't say, but I shall return. Keep the home fires
burning! |
| "EDUCATION, n. That which discloses to the wise and disguises from the foolish their lack of understanding." (Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary) |
The Ivory Tower is a comic strip which I'm currently producing for The Daily Texan, the campus newspaper for the University of Texas at Austin. The strip tells the story of David King, a 30-year-old dropout who returns to college after several years of working in the public sector. To make ends meet, he also takes a part-time job at the university. Being an older-than-average and married student, as well as a university staff member, gives him a unique perspective on the college experience. (And yes, the strip is semi-autobiographical!) | |
| You can find here a collection of the strips as they have appeared in The Daily Texan. I'll be updating the archives once a week. Poke around the site, and you can also find my musings on why I'm producing the comic strip, as well as the requisite character profiles. So enjoy your visit, and drop me a line if you can to let me know what you think. | "AGE, n. That period of life in which we compound for the vices that we still cherish by reviling those that we have no longer the enterprise to commit." (Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary) |

| "The Ivory Tower" and this entire website are copyright (c) 1998 by the author, Kris Austen Andrews. He wrote this particular page on August 24, 1997 using HTMLed Version 1.5f by Internet Software Technologies. This page was last updated on October 11, 1997. This site is hosted by the University of Texas at Austin, and the comic strip is hosted by The Daily Texan, neither of which was consulted during the production of the contents. But then, they never consult me, either. |
