Background

Sam had always been a well adjusted child, he had loving parents to which he had been very close.   Eventhough they were not changed, they still accepted their son's transformation.  As a result he easily accepted his what he had become.  After the exodus Sam and his parents were living with a group of other families when suddenly an attack by the DLG took all he had away.  He blames himself for not having been able to save his loved ones.  This was made worse by the discovery of Miaje's capture by the DLG.   His need to find his friend as well  avenge his family has caused him to become reckless, an attribute  that could make him a liability to the team's mission.
