JUNE 28, 2004   ARF HAS ITS OWN LIVE jOURNAL NOW!!!
Thanks to Razerz (BIG hugs, BTW!), ARF has it's own Live Journal Community:
http://www.livejournal.com/community/arf_baby/
Sign on and join in all of the discussions.

ARF is having a "Too Poor For AC Party". It is a day (or two) trip to a several of East Central Missouri caves, including Meremec, Fisher Cave, Onondaga, and Cathedral Cave. Sometime in the Fall, if we go to a few more near Hannibal (as the plan is now), you can get a special patch commemorating the fun! All of these caves are walkable, and aren't as scary as some of the tiny ones. Check out http://www.missouricaves.com/, click on the first and second links for more info. And also be sure to let Tyger know that you're interested in coming. Cost will be around $30 or so (This is an ESTIMATE!), plus gas and food.

And, of course, for those going to AC, spread the word that St, Louis has alot of fun Furs, and great fun at their events! Have fun there, and make all of the ARFers that can't go jealous of the fun times you had there!

Feb 15, 2004  Murrrdi Gras, Event, and Campout Pages Updates
OK... Murrdi Gras is almost upon us, so here are the latest scoops:
The theme for the parade is "Celebrate St. Louis"
We CAN fursuit at the parade, but there aren't too many port-a-potties around, so be careful! (and yes, the one found flying down the highway has been caught)
Many thanks to all the artists who sent us some great button art; you can see them all here.

So, let's all have fun, and grab lots of BEEEEEEEEEDS! :)

I've also updated the Events and Campout pages, so check them out as well! And I did a tiny format change here; now it's easier to read the headlines.

Jan 15, 2004  Murrrdi Gras and Weekly Events
First of all, I'd like to welcome all the new Furs on the List. I hope you find ARF is just what you're looking for, whether it be for Fun, Friends, or just to see what we are (or do you really what to know what we are? Mwahahah!)

So anyhow, there are 2 new weekly events starting up soon. RamaLion is hosting Movie nights at his Den, starting Jan 17. Start time is around 5PM. Snacks are encouraged. Email Rama please to let him know you are coming.

Next up is an "ARF Meetup", kinda like the ones they have on Live Journal and Meetup.com, but better, cause it's on a day that most of us don't have to work! Sunday, Jan 25, meet up at the Galleria Food Court, and get to meet n greet one another, and help bring ARF back into the big Furry group we used to have! Eddie Canis will be there, just look for his Terrier plushie on his shoulder.

Finally, it is time for Murrrdi Gras, that super fun time that makes us beg for little plastic baubles. :) Things start Friday, Feb 20, around 7 PM, and don't stop til Sun, Feb 22. See the Murrrdi Gras page for the planned events. Also, keep watching your local Furry list for updates, esp as we get closer to the date. Just remember, the cry of the day will be:
BEEEEEEEEEDS!

Oct. 12 ,2003  WEBSITE UPDATES AGAIN!!
More updates to the Events page, and dumped alot of the older news to the Old News page.

Don't forget, there is at least 1 Howlloween party going on...if there are any others, NOW would be a good time to mention it...... And if you are going to Tyger's Howlloween party, please make sure he knows it!

Also, I don't know if any of you have noticed, but there is a page tracker on the main page. I put it on there on Dec 8, 2001 to see who and where all of our hits are coming from. Check it out; there have been over 8000 hits on our page, mainly coming from the Furnation mirror site, but there have been hits from all over the world! Just click on the tracker (it's the blue icon near the bottom of the page) and it'll take you to our tracking info page.

Questions/ comments? Let QuasiSkunk know, and I'll see what I can do!

What is ARF?

As you can see above, ARF stands for Arch Regional Furs (or Furries) of St. Louis, Missouri. We are a collection of St. Louis area artists, performers, costumers, programmers, and other such carbon based entities who are furry fans, and who want to spread the fun around to others.

What do we do?

Every now and again, we get together to meet, party, raise furry awareness and generally have a good time. We attend various furry and sci-fi cons, participate in local furry activities, and generally make our presence known to the world.

What are these "furries" we keep talking about?

Furries are people who think anthropomorphic creatures, for whatever reason, are nifty. Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary defines anthropomorphism as "The ascription of human characteristics to things not human." Translation: animals with human characteristics. A far better description of that which is furry can be found here.

How do I join?

Before we let you join, there are several requirements you must meet. You must:

  • Be able to participate with ARF activities from time to time.
Even though ARF is based in St. Louis, we have members all over the place from Kansas City, Kansas, to Champaign, Illinois.
We are more than aware how hard it is to make time for anything, so we do not make a big deal of it.
  • Be able to have a good time.
Go figure. Believe it or not, this is the ARF's primary goal. If you can't do this, well, you need help or a boot to the head.
  • Be willing to have an open mind.
Every fur is unique and special in their own way. We can not allow one fur to pooh-pooh what another fur thinks simply because they don't agree with them. Remember, it takes all kinds.
  • Send us a howl.
So, you think you got what it takes to be a ARFer?
Really want to jump in head first into the fun world of Furrydom?
Well, we need to know about it! Drop us a email and tell us a little about yourself!
You can write to Eddie Canis, and he will help you get started.
      Welcome aboard, fellow furry!
  • Is there a ARF Mailing List?.

Oddly enough, there is a mailing list for ARF.
Rules are be polite, respect others, do not spam the list, and use common sense.
To sign up, send a blank email to ARF Server, and wait for confirmation of your acceptance to the list.
