I was talking to my cat the other day (like I do all the time) and I
					started making the rrring animal sound I always make and it
					occurred to me that they don't sound very cat-like.
					I started thinking and the more I thought about it the more
					dog like I seemed. I started thinking about how I've always liked
					to howl at the moon, I hardly ever meow, I always make a dog-like growl
					when I get annoyed or pissed off at people. I have a terrible purr and I get

really pissed when non-furs meow at me! 

So I've been thinking about this and I came up with the idea that I'm half Basenji. Basenji's are African hunting dogs. They're called cat-dogs because they're the only dog that licks themselves clean like a cat does.They don't bark, they're voice boxes are in a different spot than most dogs, so they're often called "silent" but they're not silent at all. They're able to howl and make a very cute yodeling sound which I realized is exactly the kind of sound I'd been making! The more I thought about it the more it made sense and the happier I was. At first I thought I might just be a basenji but I'm still very cat-like in attitude and action. So now I'm half cat, half basenji. I posted to ALF (Alt.lifestyle.furry newsgroup) about my little dilemma and one fur said gave me a link to a book called "The Cat Like Canine" about foxes. I thought about that and read over my totem book about foxes and I think I might be slightly foxy, but really only in spirit, I think my ability to hide well in crowds and be completely inconspicuous comes from small fox side. So I'm still a cat most of the time, but I change to being more basenji-like or fully basenji. I can still have blue fur as a basenji! There's a gray and white basenji color pattern that's called blue and white ^.^ see, I've been half basenji all along and I never knew it!
