I don't write nearly as much as I draw, though I do enjoy it because the two can be combined. I used to do a lot of poetry, but I've almost toally lost that now, perhaps because my poetry was often very dark and moody, and I don't much feel that way these days. Anyway, help yourself to my attempts. I'll put more up in time.
I created the concept of Rym a few years ago; a world of hopeless struggle against a seemingly unstoppable destructive force known as The Eater. I wanted a world where the only real heroes are those played by the PCs, and that it will set in motion that which might save the dying world. Through ancient Creator ruins, across the vast wastelands of the Emptiness, to the tropical causeways and the war-torn middle kingdoms, Rym set the stage for two campaigns, dozens of illustrations, and the full development of the lutrai.
I didn't want to try for anything really big with Antenna City, thought I had been looking for fanzine of some kind to publish one or two illustrated short stories. I'll be adding more to this little anthology as I go along, and because it will require only basic continuity, I shouldn't get bored of the general idea. I don't know if I like writing quite as much as I like drawing; there are things I can express in text that I'd have a hard time expressing visually, and vice-versa. Still, I thought that by not taking my writing too seriously, I could have a bit of fun with it, and even get some practice that I might need if and when I actually do decide to take it seriously.
I have no idea how I came up with them. It must have just been a gradual thing, starting with a few sketches in class when I should have been learning math or science. I mean, I really do like otters, but I think it goes beyond that to include their way of life, which is very peaceful and simplistic. No wars, no politics, no mind games...maybe that's what would make a great civilization in my opinion. I don't know. What I do know is that these dreams will be with me until I die.
