Why

The reason the page looks so ugly is because you're using Netscape 4.x or Internet Explorer 4.x. Neither of those browsers can handle cascading style sheets very well, and neither is really compliant with W3C standards, so my code is designed to cut off the style sheets from you completely. This way, your browser won't crash from getting signals it can't understand, and you can at least read the content.

One year ago, I would never have done this. However, now I encourage you to get a more up-to-date browser. There's no reason it has to be Internet Explorer 5.x; in fact, Mozilla, K-Meleon, Galeon (for Linux only) and Netscape 6.x actually support the new style sheets better and are generally better browsers than IE. (Tip: Mozilla doesn't have all the AOL junk that Netscape 6.x does and is a better browser.)

Why? Well, the reasons are too hard to explain in a private furry Website like this, but you're missing a lot by sticking with Netscape 4.x. For one thing, those cute buttons you saw will change the font size of the letters on the page, so you can choose a larger type if you need to.

For another, it's much prettier that way -- with a background image and neat whitespacing and suchlike cool stuff.

If for any reason you're stuck with a 4.x browser -- or for some reason, you choose not to upgrade, you're still welcome here. You can still read the content on this page and all the other pages on my Website. It just won't look nearly as nice, and you'll miss some little tricks designed to make the Website more pleasant and user-friendly.
