Ferron's background is almost a complete mystery. It is unknown how long or why he has his powers, but he uses them to the fullest. For years now, he has been working for Nova in exchange for his life for trying to possess him. He has survived over the centuries by using other people's youth because he doesn't age when he is in someone's mind, literally. The only people who have ever resisted his control has been the three demi-gods of fire. He has a personally vendetta against StarLight because she is the only one who can pull him out of other people.
