Furry Runners is set 25,000,000 years in the future. The Human Race has been wiped out by excessive nuclear war. Radiation poisoning covered the earth, contaminating soil, crops, and people. Eventually, mankind succumbed to the poisons and slowly but surely decreased in numbers until they became extinct.
After the fall of the Human Race, the earth has been able to heal itself. All remains of mankind's impact have gone. Cities have been destroyed by ice ages, tectonic plate shifts and severe earthquakes. The nuclear radiation has cleared, and the planet is once again a lush, green world!
Mankind didn't just wipe themselves out, they wiped out every living thing on the planet, apart from tiny organisms, which have slowly begun to re-evolve, piecing together the building blocks of life. This time round though, the primates aren't the species to evolve. Those which the humans considered their pets are now given the chance to flourish. As time passes, the evolution increases at a faster and more advanced rate. Intelligence levels reach higher than the Human Race ever could. Over millions of years, the new inhabitants of the earth advance through the ages faster than Mankind could ever hope to do!
Eventually, the process slows down and the new life forms take stock of who and where they are. The Human Race had equal portions of good and evil within their DNA, whereas the new race has a much lower evil percentage, resulting in a more passive and calmer lifestyle. Over the millennia, the tectonic plates have come together and fused into a Pangia once again, making the entire planet one giant continent.
Currently, the inhabitants of the new Pangia are in a medieval age, and have been for many thousands of years. They are happy with their current state of affairs, and most likely will be for many more years to come.
Due to their massively high intelligence levels, the race has been able to develop rudimentary magical powers, which some individuals can tap into far deeper than others. Some find they can heal wounds in a few seconds, other find they can bring the recently deceased back to life. Others have even claimed to be able to conjure up fire, ice and control the elements. This one trait shared by a small number of the world's population is possibly the only cause of conflict on the earth. In fact, some of the most powerfully developed magic users are adored and despised equally throughout the land. Known as 'The Runners' because they are constantly avoiding the laws that threaten to force them to relinquish their powers, they are the outlaws of the world and the most powerful, dangerous, and meek of the species. Those who stand by them are considered traitors, and the bounty for their heads is just as high as 'The Runners'
The leader of the outlaws is Brother Mayu, a cleric and religious teacher. His main goal is to try and educate the people of Pangia to accept the Magic users and to show that they pose no threat. His task is immense, and in his hands, rests the fate of the "Furry Runners"
