OLD NEWS:
Sept 10,2003  WEBSITE UPDATES AGAIN!!
Hey, it still works. So I did a few updates to the Events page. I even got slightly geeky, and added the .jpg links to the Cons, if they had one.
Seems the Furs in Oklahoma have gotten together and started a new Campout themed convention, called Oklacon. Sounds like an American version of Feral!. WIth events as varied as Fursuit Mini Golf, an art show and DDR, it sounds like it'll be a great time!
Feb. 11, 2003   WEBSITE UPDATES AND MG NEWS!!
Hmmmmm..seems as tho this site works again (Thank you, SpikedPunch!!!!), so I guess I'd better start writing back to this again. Let's see...what's happening... Ummm....many of us have Live Journals, kind of like an online diary for friends to read. Check them out; most of ARF has one, it seems. Oh yeah...that one thing we do each year...Murrrdi Gras I think it's called. Yeah, that's it! Well, check out the MG News page, or click on the tab on the left. And while you're reading this, please check out the two great button entries and vote on your choice. One vote per Fur, please. And while I was typing away, I worked on the Events page too, so it should be up to date now.
Aug 18, 2002   Labor Day is Coming...You Know What That Means....!
        Yep....MFM!!
Pre-regers can get a head start Thursday night, Aug 29 if you can get there early, but the Meet officially starts on Friday. Contact Tyger or Rama for more last minute information.

Spiked Punch has noted that there is a "too Poor for WorldCon Party" being put on by the local Costuming guild, and also would like to know if there is any interest in seeing Tuna, Texas

April 30, 2002   Reminder...
Yes, it's been awhile since this page was updated, but there are a few events taking place soon:

Eddie Canis's Movie Nights are a resounding success! The movies, along with the pizza from Cloud Tamer's and LightFeather's Little Ceasars have been a great way to spend an evening in St Louis (err... O'Fallon...sorry). Now that it's so popular, it's been expanded into a WEEKLY event! They meet every Thursday at 7 PM at the Wizards Wagon. Spend a few minutes there during a movie night, and I'll bet you'll be hooked! Contact Eddie Canis if you wanna go and bring a movie to share with the others.

Next week is NameThatCon, a small local Sci-Fi convention, that has Furries running the Programming! Prices are pretty cheap, so let's all show up there, and show them how much fun Furry and Furs are. Ryngs Raccoon is one of the featured artists there, and there is talk of a room party.....

And don't forget about the Annual Howl, Growl and Purr Campout, June 7-9, at the original campground in Warrenton! A Howl-in at Wesa-a-geh-ya Cat Sanctuary, bonfires, and the hottest sporting event to hit the Furry groups: Furry Olympics are all in their planning stages. More details as they happen, so stay tuned.....

Feb 16, 2002   Thanks and a New Repeating Event!
On behalf of the ARF Board, I would like to thank every fur that came out to the MG parties! I think we all had too much fun rolled up into so little time---just like we wanted it to be!!
And wait 'til next year...the plans are already in the works!!!
And special thanks go out to SpikedPunch and his family, for giving us permission once again to park at General Gasket, thus saving many miles walking!

Eddie Canis has planned a bi-weekly furry gathering for us at the Wizard's Wagon, in O'Fallon, Mo...it's in the Schnucks mall, at the corner of I-70 and Main Street (exit 217--highway K) They will take place on Thursday nights, starting with Feb 21..You can play RPGs, draw, chat, and you can bring a video or DVD to watch (Eddie's gonna bring Animalympics to the first one--how appropriate!). The room is reserved from 7-10PM. Oh, this is a fantasy shop that WILL order Furry comics n games too! Give Eddie Canisa shout if you want to go.

The first 1000 adults (Yeah, I guess that means us too) will get a FREE(!) River Otters hat too! Here's the lowdown on our favorite Furry Hockey team. Contact SpikedPunch for more info.
Jan 14, 2002   Gaming Afternoon
Sounds like the gaming session at Lear Wolf's was a success, so he's gonna host another one in 2 weeks, on the 27th of Jan, starting at 2PM. Contact Lear Wolf for more info.

Oh, the subject of the Button contest has been brought up..I forgot to put the rules here (Bad Skunkie!)
Then only rules are: It MUST say Murrdi Gras 5 (or "V"), and it must be PG or G rated.
The winner will receive:
1. A button
2. A round of applause, a hearty Pawshake, and a skritch of their back,
3. FREE addmission to the Bowling party!, and
4. Panckakes for breakfast at Chris's on Sunday!

Jan 11, 2002   MURRDI GRAS!!!
Yes, it's time again! This year, we won't have a float, but the fun will be just as great! In addition to the parade (and BEADS!), we will witness 2 Pawfastings; Tyger Cowboy and Spike Rottweiller, and JayeEllen and Sheaea will be joined in love for eternity that night!
There will be a raffle at the party too, to raise money for our favorite Animal Sanctuary, Wesa-a-geh-ya. Please bring something that we can raffle off that night (a plushie, an artwork or story commission, or anything that you can part with) so that we can beat our Howlloween total of $800!

Dont forget about the Button Contest too! We still need entries for our badges (Badges? We DO need some stinkin Badges!)

See the Murrdi Gras page for all the details.

Dec. 9, 2001   Can't we all just get Season Tickets?
Yep, sure...Right after I laud the last River Otters game, here comes ANOTHER one! This time, the tickets are only $5! Yes, that's right--even cheaper than the last game! The game is on the 21st, at 7:15 PM, against the notorious Rockford Riverhogs! Boo! Hiss! See here for full details about the Charity for that night. Contact Eddie Canis for more info.
Dec. 08, 2001   More Updates: New Board member, Button contest, NYE, Con....
        Where to begin?
Let's all congratulate Tempesta for being elected to the ARF Board. He's already fitting right in, helping us plan events, and he has great ideas for the coming months!.

Contest!
We need a design for the ARF MG5 Button! Let's see if we can make a great button for this year's event. All it needs is to be sized properly, and have the words "MG 5" or "Murrdi Gras 5" (or *V*) on it, and of course, be rated PG or sweeter. Winner gets a FREE Button, FREE admission to the PARTY (Including bowling!) and FREE pancakes with their breakfast the Sun after MG! How can ya go wrong!

New Year's Eve Weekend!
Yes, it sucks that New Year's Day falls on a Tuesday, but that means alot more for us all to do! We have planned out a full weekend, and you can see it here.

Convention News!
Yes, the rumors that you've been hearing (hopefully) are true: NameThatCon is going to happen this year! Not only that, Tyger Cowboy is Head of Programming! So you can bet your tails there will be a Furry Track there! It takes place May 10-12, 2002, at the Holiday Inn Airport North, in St L this year, so it's now back in town. Costs are still being worked out as of right now, so stay tuned!

Past Events:
It looks like the Hockey game and the trip to Apple Basket Farms were great successes! The hockey game was exciting, and all the fur's hearts jumped when they saw all the plushies tossed onto the ice. All the plushies went to a children's charity, so you know they all have good homes now. The Fall colors trip was enjoyable too, all the trees had just started to turn, just what the trip was for!

Keep on organizing trips, and we'll have a fun year to come!

Oct. 17, 2001   Trip: It's a Hockey game!!!
Yep, that's right. For the amazingly low, low price of $10, you can watch the last remaining true contact sport left (wrestling doesn't count anymore). The River Otters are in town, playing against those dirty IceHogs! Dec 1 at 7:15 PM. But, there is a catch. You HAVE TO RSVP SpikedPunch because his company is getting the good seats rather inexpensively. Let him know by NOV 2 AT THE LATEST!!!
Oct. 16, 2001   Trip to Apple Basket Farms
See the Fall colors on the trees, enjoy the petting zoo, pick and eat fresh apples and drink fresh apple cider! Yes, all this AND the LARGEST CORN MAZE IN ILLINOIS!! (Hey, you can't make anything up this good). The tour leaves (bad pun, I know :P) Tyger's house at 10 Sat, Oct 20, so practice your "Ooohhs" and "Aaahhs" now! Contact Jutland for more info.
Oct 15, 2001   Election for a CouncilFur!
Yes. Neuracnu Coyote has stepped down from the Council, so we need another Fur to replace him. Here is what we'll do:

We will accept nominations through Weds., Oct. 24, and let you know who has been nominated on the 25th. Only 1 nomimnation is needed to have your name put on the ballot. We will have the election during the Howlloween party, and determine the new Councilor then. If you cannot make it to the party, email your votes to Eddie Canis. he will tally the absentee ballots, and we will add them to the votes at the party. No hanging chads that way :)

There are only 2 rules that we would like you to follow (Three Sir, Three!):

  • 1. Please do NOT nominate yourself. It's more fair this way. Email ALL nominations DIRECTLY to the list, so that all may see them.
  • 2. Only 1 vote per Fur, or we will get the Florida Board of Elections down here, and they are still peeved!
  • 3. Bribes for the council are encouraged! WE LOVE CANDY!!! Ties will be broken by the best bribe (in good taste, of course *wink*)
Please come on out to the party, or vote online. The members of the Council think this is important for ARF, and we'd hope you do too.
OCT. 14, 2001   Howlloween Approacheth!
After a great weekend tormenting the Klingons at Archon 25 (yes, the Fursuiters looked MUCH better than they did), we are getting ready for the Fright Night festivities! See the events page for more details. The call is out for everyone to bring munchies to the Party (food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided), and if you have anything special that you'd want to have for Brunch Sunday, bring it too. Contact TygerCowboy for travel and lodging arrangements.

After Howllloween, the next BIG event is MFF. Alot of ARFers are running panels, and the FVS too! If you want to be in the show, contact Tyger or BJ Buttons. They need acts BADLY! We are also asking for donations for the MFF's charity Auction; all proceeds are going to Animals for Awareness, an exotic animalrescue center in South Suburban Chicago. We are looking to have a plushie basket to enter into the auction, so you may bring a small plush, or anything else that you would like to donate, to the Howlloween party, and we will take care of it.

Note there is an additional page added for older ARF updates now.

If anyfur wants their bios put on the Howl-in page, please let Quasi Skunk know. I'll add them weekly as I get them. All ARFers ahould have at least an email address there. See the page for the format that we've been using.

2001.09.22   The webpage gets revised
Updates? No...Really? Look....The Calendar is updated! YAY!
Look for ARF'ers at ARCHON, only 2 weeks away! We are running the Furry Track there! Fursuiters and Puppeteers--let's show 'em what we got!
After ARCHON, look out St. Louis! ARF is going all out for Howlloween! Fun, food, excitement, food, PARTY, food, and above all, fun food! It starts Oct. 26. Contact TygerCowboy for travel and lodging arrangements.
2001.06.28   A new ARF
ARF now has a working council to help with planning and sponsoring events. The members are: Eddie CanisEvil AndyNeuracnu CoyoteQuasi Skunk, and Xylen Stormhunter. Let's all give them help and suggestions to help ARF be as fun as it always has.
2001.01.01   A new year, a new begining...
The new millennium began at 12:01 am, and ARF was there to ring it in with all night bowling, and other furry frolicing. New freindships were made, old ones were renewed, and new plans were made for the new year and beyond.
2000.06.20   A little summer cleaning...
It's been a while, but finally updated the ARF site after a long line of techinical set backs, and a few server problems.
Anthrocon is just around the corner, and we are all hot to trot to go to Valley Forge to have a good time.
If you meet one of us there, give us a "hello" and a few scritchies. =D)
2000.06.09 thru 2000.06.11   The ARF Howl, Growl & Purr Campout!
A fun weekend was had by all as furs from six different states, excluding paranoria, descended upon Jonesburg/Warrenton for a weekend full of camping furry fun.
New freindships were made, and scritches were for all. And despite the rain the last day, warm feelings were felt all around. Everyone had a fun time, and already plans are in the works for another camp out this year.
2000.01.06   Murrrdi Gras 3 is a hit!
ARF pulls off another good time for all with Murrrdi Gras 3. The howls and purrs went up as the beads were thrown out, and jumbalya flowed freely. No furry left without a pawful of beads!
Everyone in attendance, furry and mundane alike, showed their full spirit and made sure that everything was fun for everyone else.
And Murrrdi Gras 4 is less than a full year away!!!

Questions/comments? Let Quasi Skunk know, and I'll see what I can do!
